I started thinking about what is most important to most people. What do people value the most? My answer is family. You can never replace family time, especially during the holidays. So my plan this year is to get everyone a new game. I played a lot of board games growing up and my fondest memories of Christmas are of all of us getting together and arguing over the rules of a game. Silly, I know, but I can't be the only one, right? I know my husband's family doesn't share my love of board games, but I know we will all make some wonderful family memories this year. My kids will be able to participate more and more each year and I can't wait to include them in what I hope will be a family tradition.
With so many board games out there, there will never be a shortage of gifts. This year, we will be able to spend Christmas playing Pictionary, Guesstures, Dominion, Karuba, Ticket to Ride and several kids games. Amazon is full of great games and the reviews can give you an idea of whether your family will actually enjoy the game or not. If not, that's fine too...not all games are great for your family. Thrift stores are always happy to accept games that you don't want to play.
If you are looking for some tried and true games that we love at our house, here is a list of my favorites:
