Here's why I did it and why I would do it again in a heartbeat. I want to provide the very best service to my clients and that means learning everything that I can, however I can do it. You become the best by learning from the best. I have learned so much and been able to adapt some of the methods other photographers use to work for me and my approach. For instance, I second shot for a wedding where the photographer told each member of the bridal party to say something to make the bride laugh. I loved this idea, but I needed to make it work for me and fit my approach. I don't want to just steal people's ideas...that's not cool. So now I get an image of each bridesmaid with the bride, individually, giving each other a big hug while looking at me. Hugs always make girls happy. You can't go wrong.
Little things like this that I can take away from another wedding are almost priceless to me. Photographers are notorious for not sharing information and keeping their trade secrets to themselves. This is one way to get just a small glimpse of what another photographer does.
I love to share any information I can. I remember how I used to try and try to fined photographers that would help me learn and share their tips. It was next to impossible. I never want to be like that. I understand why it's that way (it's a tough industry and there is a LOT of competition), but I think I just want to go against the grain and be a little different.
Soon, I will start a series on photography tips and how I progressed with my images in hopes that it will help someone else be able to improve their images and book more clients! Please leave a comment and ask me a question! I'll likely answer it in detail in a blog post!
