To Have and To Hold is not like the others. Briana has created one of the cleanest, prettiest and pleasant salons I have been in. The large windows provide ample light and beautiful, flattering images. There is enough storage for all the equipment needed to make any bride feel her best, so it's not scattered about the room. There is plenty of space to move around and even a small seating area in case family or friends want to tag along. There is a separate, equally large and clean room for cuts and colors with even MORE natural light pouring in the corner windows. When you walk in, you are not overwhelmed by the smell of hair chemicals or overly scented products. It's simply a wonderful, clean environment and I would be so happy to photograph any bride there!
Here are the questions I asked and what she had to say:
How long have you been in the Industry?
I have been in the Beauty Industry since 2001 and the Bridal Industry since 2004. I had worked at 4 other Salons on the Central Coast prior to opening To Have & To Hold Bridal Salon.
Growing up, I was always in my Grandma’s sewing room in awe of what she was capable of creating. This ignited a passion in me for the Fashion Industry! Soon to follow that passion was an interest in all things beauty, hair, makeup, and art. As an adult, I drew from a childhood dream of owning a Salon with a Clothing store inside. After listening to what my Bridal clientele wanted to see on the Central Coast, I set out to become a part of the Bridal Industry. With my entrepreneurial spirit, in February 2015, I opened my first location here in the heart of Downtown SLO. With my niche, I am able to build a lasting relationship with my Brides; from the start of my Brides finding their wedding dress and accessories, to styling them and their Bridal party on their special day, to consigning their gowns with us. Some of my Brides even become a loyal client in our Salon after their wedding.
What type of services do you offer?
Our Salon offers Davines haircare products, custom haircuts and color, balayage color, Keratin Smoothing Treatments, as well as brow wax & tint, and of course hair styling, updos, regular and airbrush makeup applications. We style special occasion hair and makeup for mostly Brides and her Bridal parties, as well as, engagement photos, graduation photos, senior portraits, proms and quinceneros.
The romantic, fresh, and feminine atmosphere of our Bridal lounge offers Brides and her ladies a relaxing setting in the precious hours leading up to your wedding. You can enjoy complete privacy with your Bridal party, eats and drinks, and photographer welcomed. Our Bridal Team is also available to travel on location anywhere on the Central Coast.
Our Bridal Boutique is a first of its kind on the Central Coast. We feature mostly gently-worn Bridal gowns and veils on consignment which have been altered/hemmed and are half the price! We have a selection of new gowns as well, with tags still attached and priced less than retail. Proudly featured in our Boutique are jewelry and hair accessories by Untamed Petals.
Any of these beauty services can be booked online at vagaro.com/tohaveandtohold
To Have & To Hold Bridal Salon is Unveiling Beauty In Every Bride.
How long is a typical appointment for a Bride?
Brides-to-be should plan for a 2-hour appointment for a trail run, including 3 different looks with hair, makeup application, and time to review bridal contract. As for gown fitting appointments, ladies should plan for 1-1.5 hours to try on gowns and take photos. We also offer a Seamstress in house to offer options for alterations.
Do you offer everything here in the Salon or can you go to the venue if the Bride wants services done there?
Our Bridal Team can accommodate services for any size party, in our Salon or on location. We travel everywhere on the Central Coast also to include the coast of Cambria to Big Sur/Monterey, Santa Ynez to Santa Barbara, and as far out as to Yosemite.
Do you do a trial run? If so, is there an extra charge for that?
Yes, we require a trail run to be held for hair. At time of a trial run, a bride-to-be can expect 3 different styles and photos taken, so she can see her hair down, half up, and all up, with a charge of $90. A trial run for makeup is optional. A regular application is $65 and an airbrush application is $90. We also have a Bridal package which includes trial run + day of wedding, hair and airbrush makeup for $340.
How far in advance would you suggest a bride book you for her wedding?
As soon as a bride-to-be knows who they want to style their hair and makeup for their wedding, they should book the Stylist, fill out contract, and make deposit to hold their date. Our services for hair and makeup and gowns are in the top 5 desired and searched vendors when a lady becomes engaged. Brides book their bridal services with us as far out as a year. Most of our Brides book our services within 6 months prior their wedding and some of them even book 3 months prior. I would suggest a Bride book their bridal services with us 6-9 months prior their wedding. We have gorgeous photos of our Brides and their bridal parties, as well as fabulous reviews on our websites at www.TheKnot.com and www.tohaveandtoholdbridalsalon.com
